The Aims Of Fashion Photographers

There are many different roles that a photographer may take when he or she takes up photography as a hobby and as a profession. Among the many different kinds of job descriptions that a photographer may take up or specialize in, a fashion photographer is one of them. Fashion photographers are individuals who actually need to take a lot of pictures of just one particular subject or theme and then choose which photograph best meets the demands of the client.

Factors In Photography

When taking pictures, there are many things that you need to consider so that the pictures turn out well. Experts would like to say that the light is one of the more important things that have to be considered when taking pictures. Among the things that are important factors to photography, is light.

A fashion photographer has the choice to get a model to model the product or have the product stand on itself and model. There are certain designers or fashion clients who prefer that their product be worn or used by a model instead of standing on its own, while others would like the focus to be entirely on their product and not on the model. The fashion photographer can make recommendations and voice his or her opinions regarding the use of models but it is almost always the clients' preferences that are followed.

Some professionals may even take pictures which do not contain the product but depict the purpose or value of the product well. It is all in the way that the advertisement is meant to work or make an impact. A fashion photographer can have signature pictures which means that there are certain quirks that make the fashion photographer more noticeable or known to observant people. These can either help or detract from a professional's value because this signature can be monotonous or too well known that others can copy it.

Being a fashion photographer means that one has to draw out the model and make her or him express certain emotions. This is the reason why some of them talk to the models before the photo shoot to be able to get their message across to the model and tell them what they expect from the model. Being able to draw out what a fashion photographer wants from the model is something that is dependent on the rapport between the model and the fashion photographer.

Photography can be tricky in the sense that the combination of the person taking pictures and the digital camera and the scene needs to work in order for the photograph to work and be understood.

The Aims Of Fashion Photographers

The Art Of Photography

Skeptics think that photography is just a case of luck when taking pictures. While this can happen, there are also many fashion photographers who can transform their shots into masterpieces just by considering the many factors that make a picture awe inspiring. Others think that it is not at all in how good your camera is but in the talent of the photographer.

Focus On The Product

The focus of a fashion photographer is to amplify the look and value of a certain fashion or design that needs to be advertised. Most professionals who take pictures that focus on fashion and glamour are either hired to take pictures of models, designer products and other subjects focused in the fashion industry. Many of these professionals make a name for themselves by making very attention catching pictures and even by being a baby photographer.

Actually, the light or the absence of can be made into art in photography if you are creative enough. You can still take pictures in dim light if you want to by adjusting the speed of your camera to gather up as much light as possible while taking the picture. This is how some pictures turn out to be works of art because the lights depicted in the scene are sort of moving. So light, or the absence of it, is an important factor to photography. It is up to the person taking pictures just how creative he can get using the light and its absence.

You Should Consider These Holiday Gifts

Christmas present

Holiday gifts seem to fade in and out of style each year, making it difficult to keep track of what's hot and what's not. While there are some timeless gifts like watches, diamonds or fragrances, the gifts most sought after time and time again are gadgets and consumer electronics. The good news is that these items have come down in price quite a bit and there are no real items that are over-inflated or extremely competitive, like the Xbox 360 was last year. For 2008-2009, you'll find a variety of Christmas gifts from digital cameras to laptops that are reasonably priced and desirable.

Electronics are big for Christmas gifts, making up 4/10 of the top wish list items for 2008 (Consumer Electronics Holiday Purchase Patterns Study). Nearly 80% of adults and 84% of kids said they'd like an electronic gift this year. So what's hot for this Christmas season? Computers, video game consoles, portable MP3 players, mobile phones and digital cameras topped this year's Christmas wish list. For computers, check out laptops at www.dell.com, where you can find products for as low as $376.

The Nintendo Wii is still the game console of choice this year, with its wide array of fun virtual-reality-type games. The price has come down a lot over the years, retailing for around $300. The X-Box 360 is another good option for the gamer. In the world of portable MP3 players, iPods still reign supreme, retailing between $149 and $300. The iTouch is the most coveted mobile phone on the market for 2008, known for its touchscreen, application support and versatility. For cameras, check out the Canon PowerShot series, where you can find great value for under $300. The Nikon SLR cameras have come down in price a lot and the Sony CyberShot is said to be a good buy as well for that perfect Christmas gift.

Choosing holiday gifts for in-laws can be nerve wracking, especially if you're a little strapped for cash this holiday season. You can try a magazine subscription like Readers Digest, GQ, Esquire, Cosmo, Vanity Fair, National Geographic, Newsweek or The New Yorker. Music CDs are another Christmas present idea for under $25 that could show thoughtfulness. You can try opera, holiday albums, ancestral folk music or oldies, to play it safe. Audiobooks could be a safer bet if you're really not sure what your in-laws' interests are. If they're particularly computer savvy, sites like www.audible.com offer monthly subscriptions and unlimited downloads. Gourmet coffees, gift baskets, Christmas plants or edible arrangements also make a nice treat. Spa certificates can pamper your in-laws and are something they wouldn't usually buy for themselves. At www.amazingclubs.com, you can send monthly wines, cheeses, ice creams, beers and a number of other goodies in the mail, although this is a little more expensive.

A 2008 study by Home Electronics Journal found surprising similarities in affluent holiday gifts lists and the under $100,000 income bracket lists. A quarter of those making more than $100,000/year are hoping to receive flat panel plasma TVs this Christmas season. Another quarter would like a laptop and 25.1% would like a DVR/TiVo. For those making less than $100,000, the preferred gifts are flat panel LCD TVs (31.4%), laptops (27.2%) and flat panel plasma TVs (23.9%). "Consumers have more interest than dollars to spend," says Roy Weiss, publisher of Home Electronics Journal.

My Exciting Ideas For Using Underwater Digital Cameras

The people that use genuine waterproof digital cameras are those where it is usually used in the course of their work as these cameras are very expensive. Using an underwater digital camera requires skill as you are operating in a foreign environment. Waterproofing a camera is not an easy thing to do so many, so called, underwater cameras aren't really designed for that type of work.

I for one would love to have a proper underwater digital camera but this is not likely to happen and I really don't go into the sea often enough to make it worthwhile.

There is lack of real underwater cameras owing to the problems of water ingress in to the camera and of water pressure. Some of you may have seen or tried the cheap solution to this problem that comes in the form of a plastic casing. As a make-do, it woks quite well; converting an ordinary digital camera into an underwater or waterproof camera.

There are a few things you need to be aware of if you are taking photos underwater - here are some tips for using a digital camera.

The water has a strange effect on light as I am sure you have experienced from time to time; it is called diffusion and the deeper you dive the more this distortion takes place. The result of this is a darkening of the captured image so adjustments to the white balance are needed. The water also has a strange effect on how the pictures look giving them the appearance of being magnified. Many novices make the mistake of not checking the viewfinder carefully to make sure they are going to take a picture containing exactly what they want in the final shot.

You don't want to have a camera that leaks when you go underwater so before you dive, check that the case is waterproof by holding it below the surface for a few seconds. It has not been unknown for a grain for sand to be breaking the seal on the case which will allow water to access the case so look for this as well. To help combat any condensation, place a silica gel pack or two inside the camera case carefully making sure the camera will still work.

Optional lenses are often available so if you can add these to your underwater digital camera then do so. Lenses that allow you to get really close to the subject can also normally be fitted just ask if the camera has a macro facility.

One problem with using an underwater digital camera is that if it is not rinsed off thoroughly, the salt can crystallize and cause leaks later on. In cases when sand seems to get into the case, it is best washed off with streams of water.

For more information, check out Sony, Nikon and Canon's website for available underwater cases for your digital cameras.

Taking Another Shot at The Canon SD750 Digital Wonder

Canon resumes its position at the top of all camera manufacturers. The design, performance, and quality is hard to match.

Here’s my overall review of the Canon SD750 or sometimes spelled, Cannon SD750

When it comes to the top brands, Canon is right there in the top 2. The performance of these cameras is outstanding. I personally own a Canon SLR and my husband and I use it all the time. But, this is the review of the Canon SD750 so let’s get back to it.

In addition to great performance the Canon outshines most of its competitors in quality as well. You may have noticed the SD700 and wonder what the difference between the SD750 and SD700 are. Actually, it’s all about the mega pixels. There is not a lot of difference anywhere else.

If I’m going to point out any shortcomings, sadly, it is the lack of the image stabilizer. I have no idea why they didn’t add this feature in as my husband and I use it all the time in our SLR camera. This in my opinion was a mistake, but Canon won me over in all the other outstanding features and performance so I had to agree with the main reviews that I’ve seen. Actually, it’s truly a digital wonder.

The Canon SD750 includes a 3” LCD screen. This is quite large for an LCD camera screen. There is a trade off due to the size in that there is no optical viewfinder. This may not bother most people, but if you are used to using a viewfinder it may take a while to get used to the loss of it.

The feature where this camera seems to glow is the movie feature. I have a Sony digital camera and I have to say the Canon SD750’s movie feature is better. There are a nice variety of special effects you can play with including the fad-in fad-out and other effects. The VGA frame rate is 30 frames per second. The time lapse feature is something to drool over as you can record up to 2 full hours of movies then take and condense them into a shorter more enjoyable movie.

The time lapse feature will turn any novice movie producer into a pro just by clipping out all the junkie boring shots as well as mistakes. It’s fun and it’s the feature that I found rather hard to resist.

There are plenty of other great features to swoon over. It has 17 shooting modes for the novice who is not interested in playing around with the ISO, shutter speeds or aperture setting. Just select your scene, be it day or night, sporting or close up portraits, it’s a click and go fully automatic wonder.

Yet, it is great for a more advanced user who would like to set up the shots using the non-automatic features. In conclusion I’d give this camera a thumbs up, 5 star review.

Selling Digital Photographs Online

With digital camera prices falling just about everyday, most anyone can afford to buy one or two.And for aspiring photographers, there is a desire to have the latest and greatest photo equipment.  And increasingly, these amateurs have taken to selling their digital works on the internet. This is an easy way to earn some extra money from home doing what you love.  You could make several hundred dollars a month with just the right photo.  Here are some tips on how to sell photographs

Selling photographs online means that there is less of an overhead, and potentially more exposure.  But before a picture can be sold, there are several criteria a buyer would look for:  sharp pictures with clear details; high-resolution (multi-megapixel) upwards of 10 megapixel; not grainy and without any artifacts; and if possible, in TIFF format and not JPEG;  and the picture has to be interesting and unique. There are only so many nature photos that people want to buy.

The pictures can be sold online as prints.  The buyer can choose which sizes and which print media he wants, and once printed, this is delivered to his doorstep.  This is usually the case for collectibles, like posters, or fan art, etc. There are several reputable online sites like cafepress, dreamstime and shutterstock that help you with this.  These are some of the best places to sell photographs.

On the other hand, those with established websites sell picture compilations.  These compilations are on CDs, or even on DVDs.  They may not have the same high resolution as prints, however, the pictures in the disk might be of multiple copies of the same pictures but different sizes, for different PC screen resolutions.  The disks are ordered and sent via courier or post to the buyers address.

For stock photography, there are additional requirements in order for a picture to sell.  These should be generic, concept pictures which depict an idea, concept or a story; or travel pictures for tourist destinations or attractions.
